Viral Collection Kit

Important information:

Effective January 1, 2026 through March 31, 2026, the process for ordering PCR viral collection kits will change.

During this period, licensed facilities will no longer be able to order viral collection kits from Nova Scotia Health Labs or the Central Zone warehouse. Additional details on ordering processes from April 1, 2026 onward will be shared in the spring.

To support this transition, HANS will send an initial supply of collection kits to each facility in early January. Kits will be addressed to the Facility Administrator to reduce the risk of misplacement.

After this initial delivery, facilities will be responsible for ordering additional kits directly from HANS as needed.

Suggested stock levels and ordering guidance:

• Facilities with 76–96 beds: maintain approximately 10–12 kits on hand

• When stock drops to 5–6 kits, consider placing an order to replenish supply

• Order quantities may vary based on facility size and usage; adjust as appropriate
